PC Friars to Open Big East Season at Butler on New Year’s Eve

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s basketball team’s 2015-16 BIG EAST schedule was announced today (Tuesday, Sept. 8). The Friars will play an 18-game league schedule with Providence playing each of the other nine conference teams once at home and once on the road. The Friars will play their BIG EAST home opener at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Saturday, January 2 versus St. John’s at 3:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 (FS1).
In addition to the home opener versus St. John’s, the team will play eight other league games at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center versus Marquette on Tuesday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m. on FS1; Seton Hall on Saturday, January 16 at 4:30 p.m. on FS1; Butler on Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m. on FS1; Xavier on Tuesday, January 26 at 8:30 p.m. on FS1; Villanova on Saturday, February 6 at 2:30 p.m. on FS1; Georgetown on Saturday, February 13 at 12:00 p.m. on Fox; DePaul on Saturday, February 27 at 4:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network; and Creighton on Wednesday, March 2 at 9:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Providence’s BIG EAST road schedule will begin with the team’s league opener at Butler on Thursday, December 31 at 2:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The team also will play league games at Creighton on Tuesday, January 12 at 8:30 p.m. on FS1; at Villanova (Wells Fargo Center) on Saturday, January 23 12:00 p.m. on Fox; at Georgetown on Saturday, January 30 at 8:00 p.m. on FS1; at DePaul on Tuesday, February 2 at 9:00 p.m. on FS1; at Marquette on Wednesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network; at Xavier on Wednesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. on FS1; at Seton Hall on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. on FS1; and at St. John’s (Madison Square Garden) on Saturday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m. on FS1.
Game times and television outlets for all the Friars’ non-conference games were also released today. The team will open its season with an exhibition game on Saturday, October 31 versus Stonehill at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 2:00 p.m. The team’s regular season opener versus Harvard will be played on Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. on Fox Sports Network (FSN). The remainder of the Friars non-conference schedule will be versus Illinois on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. on FS1; versus Brown on Saturday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. on FSN; versus NJIT on Monday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m. on FS1; versus Evansville at the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim on Thursday, November 26 at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU; versus Arizona or Santa Clara at the Wooden Legacy on Friday, November 27 at TBD; versus TBD in the final game of the Wooden Legacy on Sunday, November 29; versus Hartford on Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. on FSN; at Rhode Island on Saturday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPNU; versus Boston College on Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. on FS1; versus Bryant on Saturday, December 12 at 12:00 p.m. on FS1; versus Rider on Saturday, December 19 at 8:00 p.m. on FSN; and at UMass on Monday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Full season ticket packages are still available and prices start at $170 per seat. Three-game and five-game packages will be available on September 14 and prices start at $27 per seat.
