PC Senior Forward Steven McParland Signs With ECHL’s Elmira Jackals

Providence College Press Release
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Thursday (March 31) that Providence College men’s hockey senior forward Steven McParland has signed an Amateur Try-out Agreement (ATO) with the Elmira Jackals, the ECHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres (NHL) and the Rochester Americans (AHL).
McParland is now the seventh member of the Providence College class of 2016 to sign a professional contract or ATO this week.
The Schreiber, Ontario native concluded his career at Providence with 14 goals and 30 assists in 129 career games with the Friars, while being a key cog on the team’s penalty kill. McParland will reunite with former Friar assistant coach and current Jackals head coach, Jamie Russell, who had a three-year tenure at Providence College from 2011-14.
McParland notched a goal and an assist in Providence’s opening round win against Miami in the 2015 NCAA Tournament and also scored the tying goal in the third period during last week’s NCAA opening round game versus Minnesota Duluth. The senior winger totaled four goals and nine assists in 38 games for the Friars in 2015-16.
