PC Skates To 1-1 Tie With Vermont Friday

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Spenser Young scored in the first period as the No. 14 Providence College men’s hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at Vermont on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

NOTES

– The Friars grabbed a lead midway through the first period on Spenser Young’s second strike of the season with assists from Jack Dugan and Greg Printz.

– Vermont’s Vlad Dzhioshvili leveled the scored at 1-1 at 15:15 of the period.

– Providence couldn’t convert on a five-minute power play after Vermont’s Christian Evers was ejected for a hit from behind on Albin Nilsson.

– The Catamounts had a 5-on-3 advantage for over a minute, but the Friar penalty kill was up to the task.

– Lackey came up with crucial saves in the third period and overtime to keep the Catamounts off the board for the final

– Vermont held a 6-1 shot advantage in overtime.

– Dugan added to his NCAA-leading point total (47) with an assist on Spenser Young’s goal in the first period.

– Providence scored the opening goal for the first time in the last six games.

– The Friars played their ninth overtime game of the season, which is the second-most in the NCAA. Providence is 1-2-6 in the extra frame in 2019-20.
