PROVIDENCE TO HOST ROBERT MORRIS ON MONDAY, MARCH 25 IN SECOND ROUND OF NIT AT 7 P.M. AT DUNKIN' DONUTS CENTER
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men's basketball team will continue its march toward the NIT Championship when it plays Robert Morris on Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. on ESPN or ESPN2 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence.
The Friars earned their first post-season win since 2003 when they defeated Charlotte, 75-66, to advance from the first round of the NIT on Wednesday, March 20.
Robert Morris, an eight seed in the tourney, advanced after earning a 59-57 upset over No. 1 seed Kentucky on Tuesday, March 19 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Friars, 31-19 all-time in the NIT, have never faced Robert Morris in the post-season. Providence and Robert Morris have played twice all-time with both games occurring at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in 1982 and 1992. The Friars are 2-0 versus Robert Morris all-time. In the most recent meeting, Providence earned a 78-49 win over RMU on December 3, 1992.
