Pedestrian hit, critically injured after being hit by car in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are searching for the individual who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run on East School Street last night in Woonsocket.

According to officials, witnesses on scene said the operator of the vehicle hit the victim on purpose.

Police said they responded to the scene around 11 p.m.

They located a 30-year-old male who was severely injured by a vehicle that struck him and fled the scene.

By gathering information from witnesses and bystanders on the scene, police said they discovered information that the victim was allegedly struck on purpose by the operator of the vehicle due to an ongoing dispute on domestic relationships.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The fleeing vehicle was located.
