Pedestrian struck and killed by tractor-trailer on Interstate 95

HOPKINTON, R.I. (WLNE)- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer early on Saturday morning, according to Rhode Island State Police.

State police said that the crash happened at around 1:40 a.m. just south of exit 3 on Interstate 95 south.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders from Hope Valley Fire and Rescue just before 2 a.m., according to state police.

State police believe that the pedestrian’s vehicle was disabled and stuck in the travel portion of the highway.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has not been charged as of 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
