Pedro Espinal wins democratic primary for vacant Providence City Council Ward 10

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Pedro Espinal has won the democratic primary in the special election for the vacant Ward 10 seat of the Providence City Council.
Espinal received the most votes with a total of 304 votes, according to the unofficial results, beating Orlando Correa, Monica Huertas, and Natalia Rosa Sosa.
The Rhode Island Board of Elections stated that as of 8:00 p.m there was a total of 672 check-ins before the polls closed.

The seat for Ward 10 was previously held by Luis Aponte who resigned after pleading no contest to embezzlement charges.
