RIPTA van collision in Providence leaves one hospitalized

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — One person was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a RIPTA van in Providence on Sunday evening.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said a RIPTA transport van collided with a car at the intersection of Smith Street and River Avenue.

The driver of the car was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Perez.

Perez added that the driver of RIPTA van was the only one on board and escaped unscathed.

Traffic officials are investigating the accident.
