Person shot in Providence after confronting group who threw rocks at car

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said that a person was shot near Merino Park on July 9 after confronting a group that threw rocks at their car.

The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. and the victim was shot in the back-shoulder area.

Police said that all suspects fled the scene and there have been no arrests.

The status of the victim is unknown and the incident is still under investigation.
