PETA to place billboard in honor of escaped bull shot by police

RAYNHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — PETA plans to dedicate an I-495 billboard to an escaped bull that was shot by police on August 12 in Raynham.
The billboard will read: “Help Others Escape the Slaughterhouse: Please, Go Vegan.”
The animal was being loaded into a truck at Mathieu Farms that would bring it to a slaughterhouse when it escaped and found its way to I-495 where it caused a multi-car crash before running into a wooded area.
The animal was next spotted swimming in Lake Nippenicket where law enforcement and the bull’s owner gathered to try to wrangle it.
The bull aggressively swam toward the shore and once on land, charged at law enforcement, prompting officers to shoot it.
The bull continued to charge and was shot in the leg, disabling it before it was euthanized by its owner.
“This bull ran for his life and fought as hard as he could for his freedom, as any human would if someone tried to send them to slaughter,” says PETA Senior Director Danielle Katz. “PETA’s billboard will remind everyone that they can honor his bravery and win freedom for all other animals—from bulls to birds—by keeping them off their plates.”
