Pieces of ceiling material seen on the ground in Providence Place Mall parking garage

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — You might want to stay on your guard walking through the Providence Place Mall parking garage.

In a video from What’s going on in Rhode Island’s social media page, chunks of ceiling material are seen on the ground in what the post describes as the south garage of the mall.

There are also partially attached pieces of ceiling material seen hanging from the structure.

The Providence Place Mall responded with the following statement:

“It is important to clarify that the section of our parking garage featured in the Instagram video has been closed for ongoing repairs since June of 2023. While the structural integrity of the garage is sound, we continually work with our structural engineer and contractor on an appropriate maintenance and repair program. Such a program is typical for a garage of this magnitude.”
