Plane crash aftermath: Left lane of 195 East in Dartmouth remains closed

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The left lane of I-195 east in Dartmouth remains closed this morning following Monday morning’s deadly plane crash.

Officials say a married couple from Rhode Island died in the crash Monday morning.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s office identified the victims as 68-year-old Thomas Perkins and 66-year-old Agatha Perkins from Middletown.

According to the DA, they were the only two on board at the time of the crash.

A woman driving on the ground below was injured when the plane crashed around 8 Monday morning.

She’s since been released from the hospital.

The plane had just taken off from New Bedford Airport.

Local officials closed the interstate for most the day Monday due to the crash, which caused quite the conundrum for Dartmouth drivers.

The left lane of 195 east will remain closed while state police wait for federal investigators to arrive this morning.

Two eastbound lanes and the westbound side of the highway are reopen.

The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating the cause of the crash.
