A 44-year-old man is wanted for allegedly assaulting his niece over a Pokemon Go dispute.
The attack happened on Laurens Street in Cranston at around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
According to police, Kalada Fubara punched his 22-year-old niece in the face, pulled her out of the vehicle through the window, ripped out a large portion of her hair, and then kicked her in the ribs when she was on the ground.
Police say the suspect and his niece were team players of the Pokemon Go game, but she no longer wanted to play. The dispute began at a virtual room, known as a “Pokemon Gym”, on location.
Fubara invited his niece to enter the virtual room. At first, she declined his request to enter, but after doing so, Fubara became very angry.
Fubara’s anger escalated when his niece reminded him “It’s just a game”. That’s when he attacked, then fled the scene.
The victim was treated for her injuries at Rhode Island Hospital Sunday and was released the same day.
Police continue to search for the suspect.
