Police: 13-year-old boy shot Thursday night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence police have shared information surrounding the shooting of a 13-year-old boy Thursday night.
Police were called to Roger Williams Hospital for reports of a shooting victim being treated there.
When they arrived they met with the child and noticed a cut on his right arm as well as a bullet wound on the right side of his stomach.
The 13-year-old explained to police that while he was walking outside a Geneva Street home he “heard a pop and felt some pain on the side of his stomach.”
Police spoke to a witness inside the Geneva Street home, they explained that another witness came into their room and told him that the boy had been shot outside.
They immediately brought the boy to Roger Williams Hospital.
The victim was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital and is in critical conditions while recovering from surgery.
An investigation is currently underway.
