Police arrest Connecticut man for DUI with child in the car

NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. (WLNE) – Rhode Island State Police have arrested a Connecticut resident who was allegedly driving under the influence with a four-year-old passenger Sunday night.
State Police arrested Pomfret, CT resident Matthew Chouinard, 35, after spotting a vehicle driving erratically on Interstate 95 North in Richmond around 8:20 p.m. Sunday.
According to authorities, Chouinard was allegedly driving with no headlights or taillights, well after sunset. A four-year-old was also in the car with Chouinard.
Chouinard was processed and released on charges of operating under the influence with a child under the age of 13 in the vehicle, refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving without lights when lights are required, and presence of an alcoholic beverage while operating or riding in a vehicle.
Chouinard was released, pending a future date in court.
The child has been handed over to relatives.
