Man accused of arson at Cultural Center held without bail

The man who was arrested Saturday on charges he set fire to an office of the Southside Cultural Center on during a holiday performance went before a judge Monday morning
Michael Weed, 55, of Providence, was ordered held without bail in his arraignment.
Deputy Asst. Fire Chief Joseph R. Desmarais say Weed was detained by police before the fire department arrived at about 9 pm. He is known to be a frequent visitor to the center.
The fire caused moderate damage to room. Officials say many people were in the building at the time.
No one was injured.
The Southside Cultural Center is located at the corner of Broad and Elmwood Avenue as an annex of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
