FRANKLIN, Mass. — Police have identified the body of a missing Duke University student that went missing last Sunday morning.
The medical examiner’s officer identified the remains of 20-year-old Michael Doherty Monday morning.
Police say that although the medical examiner’s officer has not yet issued a final report, “preliminary information from that office indicates that no signs of trauma or foul play were evident. The cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending additional testing.”
Franklin police say the body was found by two civilians around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in dense woods and thick underbrush near Interstate 495.
Authorities say the Franklin man was last seen leaving a party in the early morning hours. His disappearance prompted a weeklong search in Franklin and nearby Bellingham.
