COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man with over thirty-eight arrests on his record was busted as a result of an investigation into drug deals near the Coventry Greenway bike path.
Samuel Jackson, 37, was arrested on Thursday during a traffic stop, and was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine.
"Detectives located 14 grams of cocaine hidden internally on a female passenger. The recovery of the drugs required the assistance of a female officer at the police station," said Coventry Police.
Jackson has a history of dealing narcotics in both Rhode Island and New York, police noted.
At the time of his arrest, however, another car showed up. The driver of the additional, and unrelated vehicle was described as hysterical, telling detectives on scene that his passenger had overdosed and he needed help.
"Detectives found an unresponsive 29-year-old male in the front passenger seat who was not breathing," said Coventry Police."Detectives immediately administered four (4) doses of Narcan to the male, and were able to revive him."
The overdose victim was taken to Kent Hospital where he was later released.
Jackson was arraigned and held without bail at the ACI.
A large amount of cash and some jewelry were also seized during Jackson’s arrest.
No further information is available at this time.
