The Tiverton Police department shared details on their Facebook page about a new initiative to avoid the dangers of exchanging internet purchases.

The department calls it ‘The Internet Purchase Exchange Zone’. It’s located in the parking lot of police headquarters to be used by anyone who buys and sells online, without having to meet strangers in their home, or any other unfamiliar area.

With so many scams, robberies, and other incidents stemming from online purchases and exchanges, the Tiverton Police Department hopes this new safety zone decreases these types of crimes.

The area, located at 20 Industrial Way, is open to the public and no appointment is necessary. There’s also surveillance video in the parking lot, to assist in safe transactions.
