Police find shoplifting suspects’ vehicle after officer-involved shooting in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Two shoplifting suspects are still on the run after police said they injured a Cranston officer on Sunday while escaping.

Police said a female officer was taken to the hospital after a shoplifting offense was reported by a store employee in the Garden City Shopping Center late afternoon.

The driver fled onto Route 10 north and was last seen near Niantic Avenue, officials said.

The officer was taken to Kent County Hospital to be treated for her injuries and was released shortly after.

According to Cranston Police, they found the vehicle on Niantic Ave in Providence yesterday afternoon.

At this time, the suspects remain at large.
