Police identify pedestrian struck, killed in Coventry

A woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Coventry Monday night.

Police responded to the area of 48 Howard Ave after reports of a pedestrian struck by a pick-up truck.

53-year-old Cheryl Sherman, of Coventry, was rushed to Kent Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Brian Blanchette, remained on scene and is not facing any charges at this time.

Police said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
