Police identify suspect arrested in connection to stabbing of former Fall River mayor

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department has identified the suspect arrested in connection to the stabbing of former city Mayor Will Flanagan.
Fall River police arrested 31-year-old Corree Gonzales around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to Mayor Paul Coogan’s office, Flanagan was stabbed on Hartwell Street on Oct. 20 and seriously injured.
He served as Fall River mayor from 2010 to 2014 and now serves as CEO of Cosmopolitan Dispensary on Hartwell Street.
As of Monday night, Fall River police said Flanagan was in stable condition.
During Tuesday’s arrest, police alleged Gonzales assaulted officers.
Gonzales faces charges into connection to the stabbing as well as four counts of assault and battery on a police officer.
