Police identify victim of deadly Providence shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Police have identified the victim of Sunday’s shooting in Providence.
The Providence Police Department said Monday that 28-year-old Julio Ariza was shot and killed on Admiral Street around 5:15 a.m.
Ariza was previously sentenced to two years in federal prison in January 2023 after he admitted to participating in a bank fraud scheme.
Officials said he was shot in the back and taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made and no additional information is currently available, per authorities.
