Police search New Bedford stabbing suspect

A sixty three year old New Bedford man was stabbed in his home on Alva and Winslow St. Saturday afternoon around 3:20 p.m.
Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 32-year-old David Luis Figueroa, last known address is 147 Maxfield St. New Bedford, on the charges of attempted murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, and assault and battery to collect a loan causing serious bodily injury.
Police say the Figueroa knew the victim and entered through an unlocked door. An argument ensued over money before the victim was stabbed numerous times in the torso and had his throat cut.
First responders found the victim semi-conscious and were able to get limited information about the incident before he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital
The victim is in stable condition at the time.
