Police investigating shooting in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Police responded to Shell Gas Station after reports of a shooting on Elmwood Avenue.

ABC6 News Crews arrived to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. to see multiple police units and investigators on the scene.

News Crew on site could see a bullet hole through the window of the black Acura surrounded by crime scene tape.

Captain Richard Fernandes confirmed the passenger in the vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, was shot in the head and conscious when they arrived to the scene.

The victim stated that she had been driving down Elmwood Ave. when several shots were fired into the vehicle.

Police observed approximately five holes in both front doors and windows of the car, as well as blood on the inside of the front passenger door and on a jacket in the back seat.

A passenger in the Acura suffered a gunshot wound to the forehead.

The passenger is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Police say the witness and victim were uncooperative with investigators. Police believe a third individual was involved and confirmed the shooting did not happen at the gas station.
