Police investigating shooting incident in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police are investigating a shooting incident that took place Monday afternoon.

According to New Bedford police, the incident took place in the area of Austin and County Streets.

One victim has been taken to a local hospital and one individual has been detained.

A firearm has been recovered by police and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
