Police make second arrest in connection to shooting of teenage girl in Easton

EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Easton Police Department said it has made a second arrest in connection to the shooting of a 16-year-old female in Easton on Jan. 14.

19-year-old Xavion Barnes, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.

On Jan. 14, a teenager was hospitalized with “serious” injuries after being shot in the face at an apartment complex in Easton.

The following day, Anthony Lopes, 18, of Brockton, was arrested by Massachusetts State Police for possession of a firearm.

On Jan. 27, Easton police arrested Lopes in connection to the Easton incident, and was charged with assault and battery by discharging a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity firearm and armed robbery.

On Tuesday morning, police issued an arrest warrant for Barnes, who was later taken into custody without incident, according to Easton police.

The victim remains in serious but stable condition in a Boston-area hospital, according to Easton police.

Barnes was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Taunton District Court.
