NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A South Dartmouth man accused of multiple instances of drug possession wearing a GPS monitoring device led police detectives on a high speed chase, according to New Bedford police.

Hayden Andrade, 22, allegedly fled from Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau detectives on November 14 and threw a loaded handgun out the window of his vehicle.

He was found in the Area of Brock Avenue and Emery Street and was arrested after a brief foot chase.

Detectives allegedly found a plastic bag of 18 grams of fentanyl and a plastic bag of 42 grams of cocaine.

Andrade was arrested in February 2023 on charges of dealing cocaine after 15 grams of the narcotic were found in his home during the execution of a search warrant, according to police.

He was released on bail and was arrested again two months later for allegedly leading detectives on a chase, ultimately crashing his vehicle and being found in possession of an illegal firearm and 24 grams of cocaine.

He was released with a GPS anklet after appearing in New Bedford District Court.
