Three Pawtucket men were arrested Wednesday after a brief standoff with police, in connection to a shooting.

Police say they were called to Japonica St around 6:00 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Victims told police their vehicle was cut off by a U-Haul truck, and the occupants then pointed guns and fired at them. They were not injured, but their vehicle was struck.

Police said that the Central Falls Police Department was looking for a U-Haul truck involved in a shooting in their city.

Officers surrounded a home at 136 Park St. where the three male suspects from the U-Haul truck had fled to.

A perimeter was established and after several failed attempts to get the suspects out, officers and a K9 unit broke in to the first floor apartment, despite the suspects’ attempts to barricade the door.

The three suspects were found hiding in the apartment and were arrested. Four firearms and ammunition along with a small amount of narcotics were seized.

No injuries were sustained except for a minor injury to one of the suspects who was bitten by the K9.

21-year-old Robert Baptista, 22-year-old Alton Oliveira, and 21-year-old Jerremy Alves are charged with felony assault and firing in a compact area with additional charges to be determined.

Oliveira is also facing charges from Central Falls in connection to a domestic assault, strangulation and shooting the same day.
