Police officer struck while directing traffic

A Warwick police officer was struck by a drunk driver late Saturday night.
64-year-old Thomas Horne of Warwick was driving under the influence when he hit the officer who was directing traffic, due to a power outage, in the area of Warwick Avenue and Sandy Lane.
The officer was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated and later released.
Horne was charged with Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and Driving Under the Influence (BAC Unknown).
