What Providence Police were investigating as a possible abduction this week turned out to be a dispute between a boyfriend and a girlfriend, according to Major David Lapatin.

The incident happened on Tuesday on Tell Street. Surveillance video showed a woman crying and struggling while being put into a gold van.

Police tell ABC6 that the woman in the video was upset and threatened to kill herself before taking off running. That’s when her boyfriend, his mother, and brother, jumped into the van and tried to get her back into the vehicle before she hurt herself.

Major Lapatin says the boyfriend and girlfriend are juveniles and are not facing any charges. The case is closed as far as an abduction is concerened.
