PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Police provided updates Tuesday on the status of the 46 dogs seized from a hoarding situation in Pawtucket last week.

The Pawtucket Police Department released a statement reporting all of the dogs were medically cleared and vaccinated as of April 13.

Officials said local animal welfare organizations volunteered to accept many of the dogs, taking responsibility for medically treating, grooming, and spaying or neutering the animals.

Police said the RISPCA and Potter League each took custody of 10 dogs, the Providence Animal Rescue League took six dogs and Cranston Animal Control took two dogs.

The Diamond Hill Animal Clinic volunteered its staff and facility to shave, clean, medically evaluate, and vaccinate the 18 dogs that remained.

Three of those dogs were taken out for adoption by Friends of Homeless Animals RI, and Cranston Animal Control accepted two more.

Authorities said most of the dogs will be available for adoption soon, and applications can be submitted here.

The Potter League, RISPCA, PARL, and FOHARI are also accepting applications.
