Police: Providence man slams into cruiser in stolen car

A Providence man was arrested after police say he slammed into a police cruiser in a stolen car.

Rehoboth Police pulled over a stolen Chevy Tahoe on Sunday evening when they say the driver, 19-year-old Alex Patterson, tried to get away by backing up into the officer’s cruiser.

He was arrested and faces multiple charges including unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. He also has three outstanding warrants out of Attleboro.

He is being held on $10,500 cash bail.
