Police recover body of missing UMass Dartmouth student-athlete

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the body of a missing UMass Dartmouth student was recovered from the Acushnet River by police Tuesday night.
The district attorney’s office says foul play is not suspected in the case.

Police say they are conducting land and water searches in New Bedford for a missing student-athlete.
Flordan ‘Flo’ Bazile, 21, is a sophomore at UMass Dartmouth and was last known to be in the area of Howland Road and Coggeshall Street.
Bazile was last seen on campus at Pine Dale Hall early Monday morning at 2 a.m. and is a decorated member of the UMass Dartmouth Track & Field team.
UMass Dartmouth Police are leading the investigation, alongside several other agencies, and say anyone with information should contact them at 508-999-8107.
The university released a statement saying they are “collaborating with family, friends, and local law enforcement agencies to find Flordan” and their “entire community hopes for his safe return.”
