UPDATE: Police respond to incident at Barrington High School

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police responded to Barrington High School this morning for an incident at an athletic field adjacent to the school.

According to officials, the incident was handled safely and a lockdown and shelter-in-place was implemented out of an abundance of caution.

Officials said it was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public, students, faculty or staff.

Police will still be present at the schools and an early dismissal of the high school was ordered.
