Police respond to shots fired in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Officers responded to reports of shots fired in Fall River on Tuesday.

The Fall River Police Department said units responded to Raymond Street around 1:20 p.m. and found several shell casings in the area.

Authorities said at least one vehicle “sustained damage consistent with a projectile.”

Police added that there was no evidence to suggest anyone was hit by the gunfire.

A shelter-in-place was briefly put into place at a nearby elementary school while officers assessed the situation.

Officials said witnesses reported seeing a vehicle speed off moments after the sound of gunshots.

The incident is still under investigation, according to authorities.
