Suspect arrested in Smithfield bank robbery

Smithfield Police have arrested the suspect wanted in a Bank RI robbery that occurred Monday afternoon.

23-year-old Stephen Allen Cairone, of Pawtucket, was taken into custody Tuesday in Warwick.

Police say the suspect entered the bank on Putnam Pike and handed the clerk a note demanding money before fleeing on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Cairone is charged with second degree robbery and possession of cocaine. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
