Police: Suspect hits car head-on, flees and collides head-on with fire truck en route to first crash

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick police are saying that a DUI suspect collided head-on with a car, fled the scene and then collided head-on with a fire truck responding to the first crash.

Brian Weaver, 46, of Warwick, is charged with DUI, one felony count of duty to stop in an accident resulting in injury and others.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:39 p.m. Sunday when police say Weaver’s Ford F-150 collided head-on with a Toyota RAV4.

Police say that Weaver then fled the 1073 West Shore Road crash that left two occupants of the RAV4 injured.

Responding officers encountered a second crash scene they say also involved Weaver’s truck.

This incident occurred at the intersection of West Shore Road and Sandy Lane, and the F-150 became disabled after Weaver allegedly crossed the center lane and collided with a Warwick fire truck en route to the first crash.

Weaver was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for minor injury treatment.

He allegedly refused to submit to a blood test for DUI suspicion, and he was charged in the incident.

The RAV4 occupants sustained suspected fractures in the incident.

No Warwick fire personnel were injured in the second collision.
