Police to increase security at East Providence High School amid threat investigation

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — There will be an increased presence of officers at East Providence High School amid an investigation into a threat.

Police said Monday that the department is investigating a report of graffiti and vandalism at the school which “referenced a threat of violence.”

They said will be additional school resource and patrol officers at the school throughout the day and during dismissal.

Police noted there is no credible information that the threat is legitimate, and that the increase of officers is out of an abundance of caution for students and staff.

The department did not release any further information.
