District attorney’s office identifies Pawtucket couple killed in Seekonk crash

SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol Country District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday identified the Pawtucket couple that was killed in a crash in Seekonk.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Route 44.
District Attorney Thomas Quinn identified the victims as Robert and Winifred Langevin. Both were 70 years old.
Quinn said the initial investigation showed that Robert, who was driving a 2004 Corvette with his wife in the passenger seat, stopped at a stop sign on the northern side of Lincoln Street.
Witness told police that the Corvette tried to cross Route 44 on the south side of Lincoln Street, just as a 2017 Jeep Wrangler was approaching the intersection.
The driver of the Jeep, a 25-year-old woman, applied her brakes and tried to swerve out of the Corvette’s way, but couldn’t because the Corvette cut right in of the Jeep, said Quinn.
Authorities said Robert was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died. His wife, Quinn said, died at the scene.
The 25-year-old was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.
Seekonk Police Chief Dean Isabella told ABC 6 News that neither excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
