Police: Warwick man charged with breaking into home dressed as cop

A Warwick man is charged with breaking into a house while pretending to be a cop.

West Warwick Police say 32-year-old Thomas Villella is accused of breaking through a woman’s window around midnight Saturday and attempted to handcuff her.

Police say he then took off when she started yelling and called the police. The woman recognized him as a past acquaintance.

A short time later, police pulled Villella  over  and found a pellet gun and handcuffs in his car.

Villella is charged with burglary, driving under the influence, impersonating a police officer and other charges.
