Portsmouth Police arrest driver after DUI crash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Portsmouth Police arrested a driver on DUI charges Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to Middle Road at Mill Lane in Portsmouth just after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a motor vehicle accident.
Police on scene observed a 2010 Chevrolet that had crashed through a stone wall on Middle Road.
The driver of the vehicle failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Police said officers found a bottle of brandy in the vehicle.
Police said the driver, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries where they refused to submit to any further testing.
The driver was issued summons for DUI, 2nd Offense, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, and Failure to Maintain Proper Control of a Vehicle.
