Portsmouth Police arrest man for alleged solicitation of a minor

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Portsmouth Police Department said that it arrested a Harrisville man for allegedly soliciting a 14-year-old.

56-year-old Michael Collins was charged with indecent solicitation of a minor.

Police said that Collins had been “soliciting inappropriate contact” with a juvenile residing in Portsmouth.

Officers alleged that they had obtained evidence of the solicitation, including online communications between Collins and the juvenile victim, and he was then arrested without incident.

Collins was released on $5,000 surety, with the conditions that he was prohibited from having contact with minors and was not allowed use of the internet, smartphones, or computers.
