Potential contract impasse between United Healthcare, Brown would impact Medicare Advantage patients
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island residents who have Medicare Advantage plans could lose their in-network coverage at Brown University Health’s hospitals.
Right now United Healthcare and Brown Health are in contract negotiations.
The current contract between United Healthcare and Brown University Health remains in effect through June 30.
If a contract isn’t reached by then, Brown University Health Hospitals will be out of network by July 1.
That includes the Dual Special Needs Plan and group retiree plans.
United Health said, Saint Anne’s Hospital and Morton Hospital are under a separate agreement, and remain in the Medicare Advantage network.
If you have the Medicare Advantage plan through United Healthcare and see a physician with Brown University Health, that will not be impacted.
