Potential damaging wind gusts Thursday

After another round of showers departs the region this evening the winds will begin to ramp up overnight as the clouds clear out. Lows tonight will drop to the low and mid 30s, but I don’t expect any icy conditions to develop as the wind will tend to dry everything out before any freezing temperatures can developing before daybreak.

For Thursday, potentially damaging winds will be howling out of the WNW with speeds up to 20 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. For that reason, a Wind Advisory is in place from 7 PM this evening through 10 PM Thursday evening. Temperatures will also be trending colder starting tomorrow as highs only reach near 40° as morning sunshine mixed with some afternoon clouds passing by. This means we’ll also be talking about wind chills that will feel like its in the upper 20s. For Friday the winds will slowly relax and highs will be in the upper 30s amid a good deal of sunshine.

Moving into the weekend it’ll stay sunny, but quite cold with highs in the low 30s Saturday and struggling to reach 30 Sunday! The only real good thing about the very cold dome of air moving in  is that it will also shift the storm track well to the south for now.
