Potentially dangerous conditions expected Thursday and Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of Southern New England, except the Cape and islands, from 11 a.m. Thursday through 8 p.m. Friday.
Due to a combination of heat and humidity, it will feel as hot as 100-104 degrees both afternoons, putting people at risk for heat-related illnesses.
Precautions include drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, avoiding the sun during peak heating times of the day, seeking air-conditioning and shade, and performing outdoor activities in the early mornings or evenings. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing for maximum comfort in the heat and humidity.
Young children and the elderly are the most susceptible to heat-related illnesses. Also, don’t forget your pets. Provide plenty of water and keep them inside as much as possible.
Heat stroke is no joke! It is an emergency life-threatening condition that requires emergency medical intervention.
