Preliminary results: Hopkins wins Cranston Republican mayoral primary

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Preliminary results posted to the Board of Elections’ website show incumbent Republican mayor Ken Hopkins will advance to November’s general election.
Hopkins got 3,350 votes, while challenger Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung got 2,352 votes, according to the preliminary results.
Hopkins moves on to face Democrat Robert Ferri in the general election for mayor of Cranston.
“Over this past year, we saw a deplorable attack on my character, my record of accomplishments, but fortunately the voters of Cranston saw through all of that,” Hopkins said at his watch party Tuesday night. “To my opponent, and especially my opponent’s supporters, I extend a gracious invitation for you to unite with my campaign.”
