A rare prime time address by the President will outline the American strategy facing ISIS

For some time now troops have already been heavily involved in the terrorist group’s dealings in Iraq, but as its influence permeates into Syria the American military may become more involved.

“I think what we’re going to see initially, is that the president is going to push for aerial bombardment of ISIS targets in Syria,” said Joseph Roberts, Prof. of International Relations at Roger Williams University.

In addition, a more boots on the ground campaign may be launched, arming and training militants fighting the terrorist group… who are lreaalreadytioned in Syria. Similar training tactics are already being used covertly by the CIA… though with a nation as divided by mass casualties and civil war as Syria, the outcome may not be as positive.

“Everybody wants to give weapons and money to their favored opposition group to the Assad regime, and what that’s caused is, it’s actually created more and more fragmentation rather than a cohesive policy,” said Roberts.

A senior official tells ABC News the president would like congress’ blessing… but is ready to move forward with this broader military effort with or without lawmakers’ support.

Some in congress are demanding a vote.

The presidential address will be on ABC6 at 9 PM.
