Press box at Lincoln High School football field collapses during microburst

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The press box at the Lincoln High School football field toppled over during a bout of intense wind and rain on Wednesday.

According to the Lincoln School District Superintendent, the press box flipped over during a microburst, also known as a downdraft within a thunderstorm that can reach up to 2.5 miles wide.

The Superintendent said no students were injured when the structure came tumbling down and crews are on site assessing the damage.

All students in the area at the time have since been reunited with the families, the school said.

ABC 6 News crews are also on the scene where the structure could be seen completely flipped over into the bleachers.
