Prolonged Snow Event

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Providence and for areas to the north effective late Saturday night thru Monday night, during which time at least 8 inches of snow could fall. Lesser amount of snow are expected closer to the coast.

Forecast: Saturday looks mostly cloudy with a few snow showers by the afternoon, expect highs in the upper 20s to near 30. Snow amounts should be less than an inch. More snow is possible Saturday night, when an inch or two could fall.

This prolonged snow event is likely to continue thru Sunday and last into late Monday night. Expect weekend snow totals around 2 to 4 inches, with an additional 4 to 6 inches on Monday. This storm could be strong on Monday, meaning heavy snow is possible, but there are still uncertainties when it comes to this prolonged event, namely the location of the rain/snow line on Monday. Nonetheless, most of SNE can expect 3-day snow totals on the order of 3 to 6 inches, with 6 to 10 inches likely in the Providence area, and even higher totals to the north.
